Marjorie Waldo, President & CEO of Arts Garage in Delray BeachA former high-profile educator, Marjorie Waldo earned her BA in Drama from the University of Virginia and her MA in Educational Leadership from FAU. Born in Key West and raised in Southern Virginia, Ms. Waldo lived in Princeton, New Jersey for a decade before making South Florida her permanent home.A high school English teacher for over a decade and with a passion for equity, Ms. Waldo worked as a school leader for more than 15 years. Since moving to Florida in 1995, her career in education focused on juvenile offenders. Most notably, her work as a high school principal at Tomorrow’s Promise Community School centered on educating teenagers and young adults from cyclical poverty and illiteracy who all faced debilitating obstacles including incarceration, teen pregnancy, drug & alcohol abuse.A non-profit turn-around expert, Ms. Waldo has presented at regional and national educational and arts conventions and provided consulting services for non-profits and government agencies. Marjorie is accomplished at strategic and systems planning, organizational accountability, grant writing and fundraising, programming and community engagement and collaboration.As President & CEO of Arts Garage since 2016, Ms. Waldo has successfully turned the organization around, growing the organization’s financial and relationship capital as she stabilized the organization’s place in the community. Arts Garage’s vision, connecting the community to the world through the arts, drives Ms. Waldo’s efforts to deliver innovative, diverse, meaningful and accessible visual and performing arts experiences to multi-cultural audiences.Marjorie’s love for the arts is rooted in her belief that art, theater and music are universal and transformative with the power to heal communities by bringing people together.
