About Mariya Anwar
Growing up in Mumbai helped me gain clarity and a true perspective on what community shared spaces mean. Something that moves me is the ability to preserve the identity of a space through redefining its purpose, ultimately empowering the entire ecosystem around it. Transitioning from being an architecture and urban design student to a full-time Designer, I continue to bring my vibrant flair for design from both worlds and various creative ventures. My reflections on Urban Design focus on spaces that celebrate inclusivity and diversity. I am dedicated to tactical urbanism and placemaking, promoting sustainable designs that are adaptable, invigorating, and welcoming to enrich public spaces. My interest is situated at the intersection of strategically resolving and redefining underutilized public spaces and parcels through Urban Design strategies. As a Designer, what truly captivates me is one’s adeptness to redefine, repurpose, and refurnish spaces, thereby enhancing the overall user experience. I believe as a designer we hold the power to re-imagine spaces that echoes empathy - elegance - creativity. I am incredibly interested in engaging with likeminded people that’s sparks conversation about how new era of urban design will resolve the contemporary issues, human and non-human agencies that unfolds different forms of interaction in urban settings, urban life and urban ownership.
