ABOUT MARITZA SALAZAR CAMPO
I am a Leadership Scientist and Associate Professor of Management at UC Irvine, where I direct our flagship MBA programs and design executive education for leaders navigating high-stakes complexity. My grant-funded research on team science and leadership under pressure, supported by NSF and NIH, has shaped initiatives at UCI, UCLA, and healthcare systems nationwide. Beyond academia, I work with organizations from Medtronic and SEGA, to Nongshim Ramen, Taco Bell, and PwC—helping leaders decode complexity, realign teams, and deliver impact without burnout. My grant-funded research on team science, collaboration, and leadership under pressure has been supported by the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health, and published in American Psychologist, National Academies of Science, and the Journal of Organizational Behavior. At UC Irvine and UCLA, I have led team science initiatives that prepare investigators and clinicians to secure multimillion-dollar grants, accelerate discovery, and integrate across disciplines. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I worked with health systems, educators, and community partners to lead the countywide committee that brought children back to school faster than most counties in California.Beyond academia, I partner with organizations including Medtronic, Kia, Taco Bell, SEGA, Nongshim, PwC, JPMorgan Chase, Cedars-Sinai, Children’s National, UCI Health, and OCHIN—helping leaders across industries decode complexity and align strategy.I was recognized in the Orange County Business Journal’s OC50 for co-launching UCI’s Chief Medical Officer Training Program, which equips senior physician leaders for C-suite roles. More recently, I collaborated with UCI Health leadership to design a custom program for senior executives during their expansion following the Tenet Healthcare acquisition. At the center of my work is a conviction: burnout doesn’t come from data or deadlines, but from misalignment. I build the tools and programs that restore clarity so leaders in boardrooms, labs, and hospitals can deliver impact without losing themselves to overload. s•••••••@uci.edu
