Director (Infrastructure and Major Development including renewable energy) LDA DesignMaritta is a Chartered Landscape Architect and Associate RTPI with over 25 years’ experience in environmental and landscape planning / design. She has led on multi-disciplinary projects in strategic landscape planning, landscape planning and masterplanning, strategic environmental assessments / sustainability appraisals, tourism and recreation studies, governance, training and facilitation.Maritta has expertise in delivering Seascape, Landscape and Townscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIAs) for Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and consenting schemes covering a diversity of projects; from large offshore windfarms, solar, battery, power stations, interconnectors, transmission, biomass, residential and mixed use developments to infrastructure and commercial schemes. Many of the planning applications she has been involved in are high profile and in sensitive locations, requiring imaginative design solutions and close engagement with environmental, planning, land services and design teams. Maritta has acted as the Landscape led and Expert Witness on a range of Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) including Aquind Interconnector and Drax Repower. Maritta also has a wide range of experience in sustainability appraisals / strategic environmental assessments, tourism and recreation studies, and facilitation / engagement for a range of public sector clients and stakeholders including Defra, Welsh Assembly, Natural England, Natural Resources Wales, Historic England, Forestry Commission, Local Planning Authorities, National Trust, National Parks and National Landscapes.Maritta has worked both in the UK and internationally where her experience has mainly been in Strategic Environmental Assessment – countries include Ghana, Montenegro, Albania, Gibraltar as well as Romania where she lectured PHd students on sustainability appraisals. Maritta has also co-authored a number of documents on behalf of public agencies.
