About Styliani Maria Maritella Petsa
I never believed in having a Google Calendar. I never set reminders nor did I ever use to-do lists. At 5, I decided I wanted to make a difference.At 12, I gave it a name: medicine.At 18, I packed my whole life into 3 suitcases.Now, almost at 19, I am a freshman at Harvard College, planning to concentrate in Molecular and Cellular Biology on the pre-med track.Every day that goes by, I learn something new about myself and my interests.Up to very recently, I felt like nothing really excited me. I couldn’t necessarily pinpoint what I loved and what I simply did because I felt as if I had to.As of today, January 14th 2026, I am for the first time officially stating that maybe I have found something I am truly passionate about.I never wanted to be just a doctor. A framed diploma on my wall didn’t feel like my calling. A white coat never brought me complete peace of mind.Not that anything ever will, but something will at some point have to do.Becoming a doctor for me, is not about examining, prescribing, and leaving. Being a doctor was never meant to be my profession, but my way of standing tall and voicing my concerns.Maybe not just mine, I do enough talking on the daily anyways…Patient Advocacy, Health Equity, Aid Provision, Medical Humanitarianism, Health Literacy, Human Rights…And somewhere behind these values, I proudly stand.Hi, I am Maritella Petsa and I am currently starting the biggest chapter of my life.
