ABOUT MARISSA LEAR
I am a current neuroscience student at the University of British Columbia with a minor in sociology. Following my undergrad, I am hoping to obtain my PhD in neuroscience. I want to focus on helping those with mental illness and changing the system to better support youth navigating trauma. I currently work with youth in government care through resource development, case support, report publications, and advocacy. Some highlights of my extra-curricular endeavors have been volunteering at the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, organizing clothing drives to support the Downtown Eastside Women\'s Center, fighting food insecurity through food drives for the Chinatown Foundation in Vancouver, fundraising for the Looking Glass Eating Disorder Foundation, hosting a men\'s mental health panel, and speaking at TEDx Vancouver on sexual education curriculum improvements. My passion for helping others and advocacy fuel my university involvements and I plan to continue this work as I continue throughout my career.
