As the Senior Policy Analyst, Content, and Government Affairs Manager, I support the advancement of USP policy, advocacy, and government affairs both internally and externally. I lead the analysis and management of public policy intelligence and work to advance and protect USP’s mission, Standards, and resources through the development of foundational institutional policies and supporting documents. Additionally, I manage cross-functional communication and collaboration to streamline and facilitate strategic, consistent messaging to stakeholders – both internal and external to USP.Additionally:• Proactively monitors and analyzes federal and global policy developments impacting USP’s mission and programs, delivering timely intelligence updates to inform strategic decisions.• Produces high‑quality policy communications—including blogs, reports, talking points, and keymessages—that effectively articulate USP positions to internal and external stakeholders.• Manage relationships with external consultants to ensure coordinated, compliant, and measurable advocacy and appropriations efforts.• Supports the development of federal strategic plans and advocacy recommendations to advance USP objectives with legislative and regulatory agencies.• Creates advocacy, educational, and multi‑channel communication materials (press releases, blogssocial media content, messaging frameworks) aligned with USP’s policy and government affairs strategy.• Serves as a policy communication subject‑matter expert, synthesizing complex government issues and collaborating across departments to shape advocacy strategies and advise senior leadership.

ABOUT MARISSA BANE REIGELMAN
Marissa Bane Malta is currently the Public Policy Analyst and Content Manager at US Pharmacopeia. In her current role she produces strategic policy thought leadership for the Global External Affairs at USP. As a policy analyst, Marissa uses her business and economics\' background, and provides policy counsel on a portfolio of issues including the global medicines supply chain, and global public health.Prior to USP, Marissa was a Policy Analyst for AARP\'s Public Policy Institute where she worked on a range of issues that impact the financial security of older Americans and future generations. In her past roles, Marissa was an analyst on the Global Thought Leadership and International teams at AARP. As an analyst for the team, Marissa worked on innovative projects and programs that included coordinating, maintaining and participating in internal and external policy initiatives and relationships. Marissa also created and was the Chair of the Millennial Employee Resource Group at AARP, where she leads efforts that focus on the millennial cohort. Additionally, Marissa was appointed by the CEO of AARP as a council member to the inaugural Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council at AARP. As a graduate of American University with a Master’s in Public Policy and an alumni of DePaul University, with a BS in Economics and a BA in Arabic Studies, Marissa has dedicated herself to her three passions: academics, service and public policy. As someone who commits all her energy to every project, she is a true leader in her community and the work she does at AARP. Marissa lives in Washington D.C. metro-area with her dog, Scotch. She is an active member of De Paul University Alumni Association, and The Junior League of Washington D.C.
