The SAO role is equivalent to that of a Chief Academic Officer and is a member of the Network Executive Team. The SAO implements the vision and direction of our academic program as laid out in Hiawatha Academies 20••••28 Success Plan with a specific focus on: All classrooms becoming places of deep student engagement and rigorous learning Deepening educator content expertise, instructional practices, and mindsetsThe Senior Academic Officer (SAO) leads the network Academic Program team, manages the Senior Academic Program Director, and acts as a partner to Principals in their roles as instructional leaders. The SAO is a member of the Network Support Team, serves on the Network Executive Team alongside the Senior Human Resource Officer and Senior Operating Officer, and reports to the Executive Director.
