ABOUT MARIO PAIVA

Geoscientist with 15 years of professional experience in the Oil & Gas industry, with a strong scientifical and technical knowledge for exploration assessment and reservoir characterization with experience in siliciclastic and carbonates reservoirs from the main Brazilian Basins. Large experience with geophysical reservoir characterization ( quantitative interpretation studies including rock physics modeling, AVO analysis, fluid discrimination and lithology identification through seismic inversion) and possess strong technical capabilities for exploration appraisal (performing well-ties, seismic interpretation & attribute analysis and velocity model building for domain conversion aiming geological and geophysical modeling). Also, a minor experience as client representative in marine seismic acquisition surveys, seismic acquisition parameterization and seismic data processing. Actually working mainly as part of local asset consultant team (ACS) as project geophysicist for local G&G and CCS consultancy projects. Also, provide technical & scientifical support for Petrel usage across SLB client base and sales as required. Master’s degree in applied geophysics, in which achieved the highest grade, explaining the relationship among rock properties and its effects on elastic responses for seismic amplitude interpretation, through advanced Rock Physics modeling techniques. Which led to developing an alternative workflow for lithology and lithofacies characterization of siliciclastic reservoirs from Roncador Field – Campos Basin, RJ – Brazil.Phd candidate (Lab2M/ COPPE-UFRJ) working to understand how geomechanical effects impact 4D response in terms of elastic and petrorphysical properties.
