ABOUT MARINA ARNOLD
I have been media obsessed for as long as I can remember. Whilst at university I freelanced for the BBC as a reporter and presenter and wrote for the ‘Melody Maker’ music paper. I was on the founding committee of University Radio Hull and still managed to write enough essays to get a degree in English Literature. On moving to London I worked as a music pr, freelanced as a travel writer and then gravitated into media research. This was followed by a 15-year stint in advertising as Head of Information for two top 10 ad agencies. During this time I gained experience of working on brands such as McDonald’s, Proctor and Gamble, Heinz and Cathay Pacific I was also part of the team that successfully re branded French Connection as ‘FCUK’. I went on to run a successful business research consultancy whilst continuing to freelance as a travel journalist and was approached by Lewes Football Club in Sussex to help with their PR. I volunteered at the club for 3 years and was appointed as a board director after my first season. I merged my PR and Media Relations expertise into our family owned print company, Pilot Plus, helping to run the company and build new business. I continue to PR on a consultancy basis for friends who run their own businesses, especially those associated with rugby. I spend as much time as I can with my two children, love reading, music, shopping, Hong Kong and Bellinis. I am a total rugby bore and have built a good network within the world of rugby union. I support Harlequins and Chelsea FC and get to as many games as I can. I am currently completing a TEFL course and have been attempting to learn Mandarin for several years. I am a Freeman of The City of London and on the steering committee of Friends Philippines, which offers guidance and advice to the Department of Tourism in London.
