ABOUT MARIN TRUJILLO
Many of the things we need can wait. The child cannot. Right now is the time his bones are being formed, his blood is being made, and his senses are being developed. To him we cannot answer ‘Tomorrow,’ his name is today!” wrote Gabriela Mistral, the first Latin American Woman to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.Marin Trujillo has dedicated his life’s work to the cause of engaging all members of the community to ensure that all children have access to a quality education. He has had the privilege to witness the impact that respectful collaboration has on the battle to transcend the barriers imposed by society and those that are self imposed because of internalized oppression. Marin\'s passion is to help families reaffirm their strength and potential and in doing so, ensure the success of their children. Marin is a change agent; educational consultant and district leader with 20+ years of intensive work experience in community engagement in K-12 systems at the local and state level. He has also served as the Public Information Officer for the West Contra Costa Unified School District and coordinated the assessment and monitoring of over English learners. Marin is deeply knowledgeable about Family Partnership, Community Engagement and K-12 Education. His current role as a district administrator, combined with his practical and educational experience, inspire him to play a critical role in the conversation about the nexus between community engagement and K-12 systems. Marin is a frequent panelist and speaker for the California Department of Education, statewide conferences for educators such as CSBA, CABE and the Title-I Conference. Over the past six years, Marin has been responsible for coordinating the delivery of capacity building in the areas of parenting, supporting-learning-at-home and parent leadership to over non repeat parents and guardians. In 2011, WCCUSD recognized Marin as Central Administrator of the year.
