About Marilyn Swindle
Marilyn Swindle served in integral leadership roles as Division Director of Quality Assurance (2013–2017) and Chief Clinical Officer (2010–2013) for Kindred Healthcare, Inc.As Division Director for the hospital system, comprised of 82 hospitals, Swindle led regulatory compliance, patient safety and continuous quality and process improvement initiatives. Her leadership, direction, consultation and oversight resulted in system-wide standardization of processes and reduced clinical variation, which enhanced patient outcomes and satisfaction. In her role as Chief Clinical Officer (CCO), Swindle established strategic initiatives and led the vision for clinical operations in the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-centered care. Following multiple achievements as CCO in: leading hospital culture; stabilized staffing; significant improvements in quality and service scores; regulatory readiness; enhanced physician engagement; and community partner collaboration, Swindle was sought and promoted to lead at the system level. Prior to joining Kindred Healthcare, Inc, Swindle\'s leadership and quality roles included staff and charge nurse, and assistant nurse manager in the clinical setting, as well as, consultant, senior and group manager in the medical device industry. Ms. Swindle earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Samford University, a Master of Business Administration from Webster University, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Stephen F. Austin State University. She also completed an Interprofessional Fellowship in Innovative Healthcare Leadership from Arizona State University and the Patient Safety Executive Development Program at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.Swindle is a member of the American Nurses Association, American Organization of Nurse Executives, and National Association for Healthcare Quality, Sigma Theta Tau International, and the American College of Healthcare Executives.
