ABOUT MARILYN PEREZ-MENDOZA

My early career was transformed by activism in the pediatric HIV and AIDS movement. I later went on to become a political scientist by training, focusing on the intersections of health equity and policy. With a personal commitment to advocacy, equity, and justice, I bring writing, policy research, and data skills to the organizations I serve. Overtime, these skills led me into natural fundraising roles.I have the honor to work for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Foundation of Southern California as an Associate Deputy Director of Philanthropy for the affiliate.I am a former fellow of Lehigh University and researcher for St. Luke\'s University Health Network where my work helped shape equitable health strategies and diversity pipelines. During this time and for over two years, I was also a part of a mighty patient advocacy organization with the International Hyperhidrosis Society (IHhS)—the only global nonprofit dedicated entirely to hyperhidrosis education, research, advocacy, and awareness. To date, I continue to rally support for the Hispanic Center Lehigh Valley (HCLV) through my expertise in writing, reporting, and donor communications. While my professional experiences focus almost exclusively on nonprofits, none of my work would be possible without incredible partners and collaborators—from individual donors, to policy leaders, community organizations, and corporations. Such is the work I enjoy the most: coalition-building and bridge-making for better communities.
