ABOUT MARIE S. DILLARD

I am a History and Urban Studies major at the University of Pennsylvania focused on the intersections of land, food systems, education, culture, and public policy. My academic and extracurricular work is driven by a desire to understand how historical structures shape present-day opportunity—and how communities can be strengthened through advocacy, access, and creative engagement.I am a Benjamin Franklin Scholar in the College of Arts & Sciences and currently serve as a Research Assistant to Professor Sophia Rosenfeld, Education Specialist and Intern at Penn Farm, Deputy Opinion Editor for The Daily Pennsylvanian, and Vice President of the Penny Loafers a cappella group.Beyond my academic work, I am the founder of Persistent Endeavors Foundation, Inc. and Crescendo Lab—initiatives that combine music education, mentorship, and historical awareness to expand access to classical music and strengthen artistic communities.I value rigorous scholarship, creative expression, and work that connects history to present-day impact. I am exploring pathways in public-interest law, policy, and advocacy, and I am always eager to learn from people doing thoughtful, justice-oriented work—especially those engaged in addressing long-standing systemic challenges.
