About Marieke Obdeyn McCloskey

With over 15 years of experience in user experience research, I am passionate about creating great products and services that meet the needs and expectations of users. I have a strong background in cognitive science, user interface design, and behavioral economics, and I apply these disciplines to understand user behavior, motivations, and pain points. As the Director of UX Research at LinkedIn, I lead a talented team of researchers who collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver insights and recommendations that inform and improve the LinkedIn experience for millions of users.Prior to joining LinkedIn, I was the UX Research Lead at Humu, a Series B startup that uses behavioral science and machine learning to make work better. There, I established a UX research practice from scratch, and ensured that the fast-growing organization stayed user-centered through end-to-end user research, presentations, and workshops with employees and C-suite. I also leveraged my skills in facilitation, visual thinking, and data analysis to communicate and evangelize user research findings and best practices across the company. Before Humu, I was the Director of Research at UserTesting, where I led the UX and Data Science team, and contributed to the growth and innovation of the leading user testing platform. I also authored and co-authored several publications and blog posts on UX research topics, and spoke at various industry events and conferences.
