Engaged by Merck\'s MSDC ARM-CoE as a Design for Reliability (DfR) SME and Trusted Advisor to establish and deploy a global DfR Asset Management (AM) Capital Expenditure (CapEx) framework and processes.Designed and facilitate a DfR workshop, established a DfR framework and identified strategic and tactical actions to define Merck’s approach to integrating a global DfR framework into the existing capital engineering processes. A declaration was signed to support Merck’s global DfR vision and mission and demonstrate the commitment of all DfR workshop participants to lead the identified and chartered actions necessary to realize the value DfR and AM was expected to bring to the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), performance, reliability and risk management.Hosted and facilitated the Merck MSDC architects to benchmark and share next and best practices with Jacobs Colleagues at NASA - Kennedy Space Center. Merck’s success in applying best and next practices will differentiate its approach to design, build and operate manufacturing facilities of the future and ensure sustainable and reliable product supply. After spending several days at NASA, memento and commemorative books were documented to address the MSDC benchmarking objectives and provide a 100+ page reference document and memento document for a deeper dive into the practices and topics explored during the benchmarking visit. The following four years focused on building and deploying business processes that include process maps, standard operating procedures, DfR process tools, and templates to standardize the DfR activities and allow the value of DfR to be realized globally on key strategic projects through Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), performance, reliability and risk management. Reliability Availability Maintainability Safety Sustainability (RAMS2) analyses studies were introduced in the third year to validate the design and performance objectives for priority capital projects.
