ABOUT MARIE-CLAUDE MARTEL
Marie-Claude Martel is a member of Quebec Bar Association since 2005. She began her practice in a national firm and then worked in a litigation boutique before becoming a partner at Litige Forseti inc. in 2022. She practices mainly in civil and commercial litigation, more specifically in arbitration, shareholder disputes, construction and contractual matters as well as co-ownership disputes. Me Martel has pleaded in front of most judicial instance in Quebec including the Court of Appeal and has acted as attorney in numerous arbitration files. She is also acting as arbitrator in conventional arbitration. Me Martel graduated from Sherbrooke University with a master’s degree in Dispute Prevention and Resolution during which she mainly specialised in commercial arbitration. Me Martel is an accredited mediator and arbitrator. She has also taught contractual law and is currently teaching commercial arbitration at graduate level at Sherbrooke University. Me Martel was also of the Quebec representative in the reform process of ADRIC’s arbitration rules and presented the IMAQ’s position on arbitration to the Parliamentary Committee during the revision of the Code of civil Procedure at Quebec National Assembly. Lastly, Me Martel is currently President of the Arbitration Committee at IMAQ and part of the executive board of ADR section at ABC Québec. She is regularly acting as speaker in different ADR events. She is also a contributor in the Arbitration Matters blog, which reviews of the pan-Canadian arbitration case law.
