Serves as the primary advisor to the Mayor, overseeing the administration of the Mayor’s office and ensuring the effective implementation of the Mayor’s platform and policy initiatives• Lead the research, drafting, and advocacy of key policies, ensuring alignment with community needs and priorities• Lead on all communication, including official statements and addresses, also act as media spokesperson• Serve as the liaison between the Mayor’s office, city departments, and external stakeholders, facilitating clear and effective communication• Organize outreach efforts, including town halls and public forums, to engage residents and gather feedback on initiatives• Develop and implement strategies for crisis communication and response, coordinating resources as required• Responsible for preparing and monitoring the Mayor’s budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and transparency• Advocate for the Mayor’s priorities with the provincial and federal government, independently and also via organizationssuch as the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) and Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM)• Support the Mayor as Chair of Ontario’s Big City Mayors (OBCM), representing nearly 70% of Ontario’s population and providing a voice for big city mayors in policy debates that impact Ontario cities• Advise on strategy and advocacy campaigns and efforts• Aid in forging relationships with the federal and provincial governments and other stakeholders• Collaborate on formulating public positions on key issues and opportunities that affect big cities• Support the Mayor’s participation in various government policy consultations and delegations as the voice of Ontario’s. big cities
