Thesis on Nanodiamond band gap engineering for visible light photoactivity supervised by Dr. Hugues A. Girard and Dr. Jean-Charles Arnault Size sorting of nanodiamond colloids- Implemented a viscosity gradient coupled with rate-zonal centrifugation- Prepared ND seedings using a layer-by-layer approach for SEM analysis- Scaled-up of the process Hybridization of nanodiamonds- Synthesized graphitized nanodiamonds- Challenged Raman spectroscopy for ND characterization- Suggested reconstruction mechanisms Took part in two synchrotron runs- Synchrotron SOLEIL (France), beamline PLEIADES : X-ray Photoemission Spectroscopy of jets of nanodiamonds with various surface chemistries- Synchrotron BESSY II (Germany), Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB), beamline HE-SGM: Bonding and electronic structure of nitrogen with single crystal, polycrystalline and diamond nanoparticles surfaces and near surface regions studied by XPS and NEXAFS.
