ABOUT MARIE-CHANTAL ROSS
With over 20 years of experience in research, development, and innovation, I have dedicated my career to advancing technology for both private and public good. The first decade of my career was rooted in the private sector, where I honed my expertise in product development, technical sales, marketing, and consultancy. Transitioning to public service, I have focused on enabling Canadian industries to develop transformative technologies that protect and restore our natural environment. Currently, I serve as Program Director for NRC\'s Ocean Program, a $60M+ initiative spanning seven years, designed to bolster Canada’s blue economy through innovations that restore ocean health. Our work focuses on Coastal Resilience, Intelligent Marine Assets, Pollution Remediation, and Bio Assets. In collaboration with industry, academia, and government partners, we are paving the way for Canadian leadership in ocean health and wealth solutions. In the time I served as CEO of SeniorSynCare (2021–2023), I led a mission-driven organization aimed at improving senior care through an innovative technology solution. In this role, I worked with my cofounder and CEO as well End-of-Life Doula\'s to direct strategic growth and operational excellence. My journey has equipped me with a diverse toolkit: from developing methodologies for assessing emerging technologies to leading strategic innovation policy, managing multimillion-dollar R&D portfolios, and securing Canada’s position as a UN Decade Implementing Partner for ocean health. I’ve turned underperforming programs into high-impact initiatives and have driven the development of national frameworks for intelligent transportation systems. Whether in private industry or public service, my passion lies in creating pathways for innovation that deliver measurable benefits to people and the planet.
