ABOUT MARIE BROWNE

I have over 10 years experience in the Life Insurance Actuarial field, in particular in Product Development. I created a Universal Life product for Genworth Financial that produced over in face value within 7 years of the initial sales offering. Getting a life insurance product from concept to sale requires working with numerous departments from the Sales Force, Customer Service and IT - to Legal, Compliance and the CEO himself. I led many of these meetings myself using different programs that allowed me to show the exact implications to different departments and predicted profits and liabilities that the company could expect. I left the Actuarial world in order to raise my children, but I never sat idle. I volunteered when I could doing things like leading the communications at NOVA and being Web master of the Wellesley Whitecaps. As a result, I have learned many transferable skills that I can offer to any company. One of my favorite volunteer position has been at CrossOver Clinic. CrossOver is the largest free clinic in the state of Virginia with hundreds of healthcare providers and over patients. Many in our population are not English speakers and communication can be tricky. I started learning Spanish. While I am certainly no expert, I can now communicate with our patients. While I have over ten years of experience in statistical, mathematical and financial analysis, I\'m a math-geek at heart. I have dozens of books with math puzzles. My most favorite are logic puzzles, but I enjoy all puzzles. Also in my free time, I love playing the piano and flute and listening to classical and jazz music. I have written 2 novels and a number of poems. I was awarded second place in the Faulkner Society Words and Music Competition a few years ago for poetry. I enjoy walking my best friend: a 10 year old rescued greyhound.
