Mari Cheney

About Mari Cheney

Mari is a Legal Researcher at BakerHostetler, an AmLaw 100 firm, serving as the content matter expert on digital assets and data management. She is also an adjunct professor at the University of Hawaii\'s Richardson School of Law, where she teaches Scholarly Research Methods and first-year Legal Research. Mari has a J.D. from American University, Washington College of Law, and an M.L.I.S. in Law Librarianship from the University of Washington. Prior to BakerHostetler, she worked as a research librarian at Perkins Coie LLP, and worked as an academic law librarian for almost 12 years at Lewis and Clark Law School. At Lewis and Clark, Mari taught first-year and advanced legal research courses, supervised capstone papers, guest lectured in experiential courses, and managed the reference department. Her first job after library school was as a court law librarian, where she primarily worked with pro se patrons but also taught agency and judicial staff. Mari is a frequent speaker and author, most recently writing about and advocating for inclusive spaces for disabled patrons and librarians.Specialties: Teaching, outreach, legal reference, scholarly writing
