   In 2023, I successfully launched and established 5C as the primary grassroots advocacy organization for charter school families in Contra Costa County. Leading a dynamic coalition of charter schools that serve over 5,500 students, we\'re dedicated to ensuring families from historically underserved communities can use their power to secure an excellent public education for their children. Our primary leadership development and organizing happens through our Family Leadership Institutes focused on advocacy and literacy. I oversee all of our civic engagement initiatives including voter education and candidate forums, and help our 300+ parent leaders develop advocacy campaigns for charter school renewals so their kids can continue to attend public charter schools. I do all of this on a shoestring budget running on caffeine and the deeply rooted belief that working class and low-income parents should feel empowered to send their kids to whatever public school they want.
