About Maria Venazindis

As a Pittsburgh native, I\'ve had the pleasure of developing strategic communication strategies for two companies that have a ton of history and heart in the Steel City: Giant Eagle and MedExpress (now UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care). Prior to working in corporate communications, I got my start in public relations, and I credit my research and campaign mindset to my \"rock solid\" education at Slippery Rock University.Aside from being a content creator, I\'m a self-proclaimed editing nerd. It’s the perfectly placed punctuation mark, modifier, or clause that makes me tick, so I signed up for UC Berkeley Extension\'s editing program and loved every second. When I\'m not spotting typos, my main objectives are to serve as a trusted advisor for my stakeholders and a mentor for my team. I thrive when I\'m helping to make connections between business strategies and the frontline team members who bring them to life.

   In my time at Giant Eagle, I\'ve had the opportunity to lead a talented Internal Communications Team and support the development of our enterprise and executive communication strategies. With team members across our supermarkets, warehouses, and corporate offices, we use a variety of channels to inform, educate, and inspire our audiences. I continue to work on strategic rollouts and company innovations, but the more technical side of my day-to-day work is balanced with creative storytelling opportunities to showcase our team members as well as the company\'s CSR efforts.
