As the Parent and Education Coordinator for the Mississippi Migrant Education Service Center (MMESC), I plan, coordinate and implement statewide bilingual programs to enhance the education of migrant children PreK-12th in Mississippi. Additionally, I encourage parent involvement through Parent Advisory Council (PAC) meetings and constant communication with our participating families.Some of my responsibilities include creating individualized education plans; assessing student records in collaboration with data coordinator; partnering with MSU departments for K-12 summer programs; establishing and maintaining a strong bond between our center and all school districts of Mississippi; hiring, coordinating, training and supervising teachers; assessing program success; and hosting several educational events during the school year.
