The Ferolyn Fellowship was conceived soon after Ferolyn Powell\'s untimely death in 2015. The goal, as it continues today, was to create a mechanism for passing on Ferolyn’s powerful, unique leadership skills to emerging medtech/life sciences leaders. Ferolyn’s strong leadership emanated from her rare ability to balance her intensity and drive for achievement with a genuine compassion for those with whom she worked. One of a handful of women CEOs in her field, she was generous with her time, mentoring young entrepreneurs via the Stanford Biodesign Program, the Fogarty Institute for Innovation and whenever asked for advice.The Ferolyn Fellowship is a non-profit organization that was launched with a foundation of connecting entrepreneurs in leadership positions with successful industry leaders to create personalized, in-context and relevant mentoring opportunities - in short, connecting bright minds.Ferolyn Powell was best known as President and CEO of Evalve, a medical device company that was founded in During her 14-year tenure at Evalve, Ferolyn spearheaded the development and commercialization of MitraClip, a breakthrough technology that repairs leaky heart valves of patients suffering from mitral regurgitation without open-heart surgery. This innovation has successfully treated more than patients in 570 hospitals worldwide.
