About Marianne Chuang

I’m a Computer Science and Economics student at UC Santa Cruz drawn to product-oriented engineering — building technically strong systems that solve real problems for real users.Most recently at Visa (Special Projects Group), I developed an LLM-powered system to identify and validate client websites, generate company overviews, and evaluate model reliability using structured evaluation pipelines. I’m especially interested in making AI systems not just powerful, but trustworthy and production-ready.Previously, I conducted AI research at UC Berkeley’s IceBerk Lab, where I used large language models to analyze corporate climate disclosures and detect greenwashing (co-first author on an arXiv preprint). I enjoy working at the intersection of technical depth and messy, real-world data.Beyond engineering, I’ve led consulting projects, built user-facing tools, and conducted customer interviews — experiences that shaped how I think about translating ideas into usable solutions. I’m energized by roles that are customer-facing, high-ownership, and idea-driven.Long term, I hope to grow as a software engineer while moving toward product-focused leadership, combining strong technical foundations with empathy, clarity, and vision.
