About Marianne K.

I started my career 37 years ago as a nurse at Swedish Medical Center. I then transitioned into staff development (education) then maneuvered my career into safety. After various restructuring over the decades, I am currently the Senior Director for Accreditation (all things regulatory), Diagnostic Physics (Radiation, Laser, & MRI Safety), Caregiver Health (employee health onboarding and COVID-19 exposure management and vaccination), and Clinical Quality Investigations (patient complaints and grievances) for Swedish Medical Center’s First Hill, Ballard, Cherry Hill, Edmonds, and Issaquah campuses, as well as the Mill Creek and Redmond Ambulatory Care Centers and associated hospital based satellite clinics. Many of my departments also support Swedish Medical Group-primary care clinics. I am past President and current Secretary of the Washington State Healthcare Safety Council, a volunteer organization serving healthcare safety professionals. I am a past Washington State (Baldrige) Quality Award Examiner and Judge. Recently the Safety & Emergency Management Specialties were moved under a new physical environment division. As the first official safety officer and developer of the safety program at Swedish, I claim competency with Hospital Incident Command System, Safety/ Security/Emergency Management Standardsand Workplace Violence Prevention.
