About Marianna Pecora
My name is Marianna Pecora and I am a political professional with experience in communications, press and digital media, youth activist, and college sophomore with a major in Political Communications at The George Washington University. Most recently, I spent the summer of 2023 interning at the Center for American Progress and the House Democratic Women\'s Caucus — working on social media and digital strategy at both. At CAP I worked on social media, email, and web promotion of the new Biden Administration Investment Tracker — a tool that amalgamates all of the public and private sector investments that came out of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, CHIPS and Science Act, and Inflation Reduction Act. At the DWC, my work centered around building a digital profile for the caucus. The DWC’s staff is small and new, so in my role as a digital intern, I worked alongside the caucus’s communications director to revive the Twitter account, launch an Instagram account, and go through the process of seeking Meta government verification. I served as Deputy Communications Director for Digital Engagement at Voters of Tomorrow through the 2022 cycle where my main role was to manage the organization\'s online presence on a number of platforms. This included writing, producing, and editing copy and creative for Twitter, Instagram, TikTok; coordinating with other departments across our organization to uplift and support their work with our platform; managing a team of staffers; and serving as a face and spokesperson for the organization in outlets including The Washington Post, USA Today, and live on MSNBC. Previously, I interned for Scott Peters for Congress where my role mainly consisted of direct voter contact in the forms of phone banking and canvassing. I also acted as a representative of the campaign at community events. I also spent time working former Santee Vice Mayor and City Councilman Stephen Houlahan for his congressional run in the new CA-48 against incumbent Darrell Issa. My roles on that campaign included calling potential donors, drafting tweets and fundraising emails, creating content for social media, and talking to constituents on the ground. As an intern, I worked directly with four other interns, as well as the campaign\'s political director, Yoav Magid, and the candidate himself. I continue to consult on that campaign on social media and press.
