ABOUT MARIAN MCCULLOUGH DORSEY
At thirteen years old, I was inspired to teach during my experience volunteering with children at our local science center in Greensboro. Watching the kids come alive when we did things like stand in a parakeet cage, make our own solar systems, and talk about the big world transformed my thoughts about what learning could be for kids. I began to see teachers as these powerful people who could innovate and create lessons that ignited kids\' passion for knowledge and I knew I wanted to do the same. From there, the rest is history.In 2011, I journeyed to Charlottesville, Virginia to further my education and, after graduating from the University of Virginia with a Master’s in Elementary Education in 2016, I began shaping the minds of children as a third grade teacher with Albemarle County Public Schools and continued growing and learning alongside my students in various capacities- from a multiage teacher to my current role as a Gifted and Talented teacher. Through these years, I have become passionate about creating student-centered experiences that achieve learning outcomes for all learners (adults and kids alike!).
