ABOUT MARIANA VELARDE-ALVAREZ

My name is Mariana Velarde-Alvarez, and I am a current P2 at Chapman University School of Pharmacy (CUSP). As a student who was on the Accelerated Pre-Pharmacy Experience (APEx) track here at Chapman, I have made my decision to pursue my PharmD at a young age. Numerous experiences have acted as stepping stones, illuminating my path towards a future in clinical or industry pharmacy. As a Latina and Socal native, I remain open to many opportunities within pharmacy and biotechnology spaces. I especially have an interest in giving back to my Latino community, in the form of providing both clinical and business services fully in Spanish. In my work as a student leader, intern pharmacist, and research assistant, I seek to gain understanding for the pharmacist\'s role in patient care and lowering barriers towards medication therapy. In addition to these roles, my candidacy in the Leadership Degree Emphasis program at CUSP will allow me to train and practice in the discipline of pharmacy leadership, in order to prepare myself for a lifetime of service in patient care. I look forward to what my future holds for me and I am eager to speak from various experiences!
