ABOUT MARIAM THOMAS

I’m a Chartered Project Manager (APM PMQ, MAPM, ChPP) and Civil Engineer with a Master’s in Transportation Systems Engineering. I currently work at Mott MacDonald as a Project Manager and am seconded into a high-trust client-facing role with Great British Energy - Nuclear (GBE-N).With a background in infrastructure and energy, including roles in transport, National Grid programmes, and now nuclear, I bring both technical understanding and delivery focus to the projects I manage. I’m passionate about building positive teams, engaging stakeholders across disciplines, and translating complexity into clarity.I served as Deputy Lead of the Association for Project Management’s Women in Project Management (WiPM) Interest Network from April 2025 to March 2026, where I led wellbeing initiatives and mentored women in early careers or returning to work.A certified PMO and Assurance Practitioner, I returned to the industry in 2022 after a five-year career break as a stay-at-home mum and have since progressed quickly, becoming a visible advocate for inclusive project delivery and career sustainability.Outside work, I’m a trained public speaker, an avid reader, and a macramé artist. I’m deeply committed to mental health and wellbeing, and I strive to create spaces, both in projects and communities, where people can thrive.
