ABOUT MARIA GONZALEZ OLSON

Maria Gonzalez Olson is the Executive Vice President of the American Cancer Society (ACS). Maria has spent 28+ years in California leading teams (corporate and nonprofit) with a focus on brand marketing, direct to consumer marketing and collective impact. She is responsible for a newly designed Region for the American Cancer Society charged with innovation and co-creation of corporate partnerships and philanthropic strategies to propel health impact and revenue growth for ACS. Prior to joining the ACS team, Maria was the Senior Vice President of Development & Field Operations for the American Heart Association (AHA) responsible for advancing mission revenue and social impact through stewardship of corporate and community strategic partnerships; executive leadership engagement, board development and community-facing programs. She was primarily responsible for leading and growing impact in major markets in the West and contributing to the organization-wide creation and implementation of issue-based funding growth models, corporate strategic partnerships, social impact and health equity. Notably, with Maria’s leadership and the engagement of volunteer leaders, the AHA launched new impact strategies such as Leaders for a Resilient Generation, Leaders for Life, Health Equity Councils and seven-figure Social Impact Fund investments. Maria served as the executive sponsor of the AHA’s Latinx Employee Resource Group (ERG) and participated in the CEO Diversity Advisory Council. Prior to over a decade with the American Heart Association, Maria held senior executive leadership positions in marketing, branding and communications for global companies based in Detroit, MI and New York. She is a graduate of Michigan State University and has made Northern California home.
