About Maria Engel

Neuroscience, Global Health & Wellness, Travel, Learning - these are the things I\'m made of.I\'m an avid traveler, yogi, boxer, sweet tooth, and middle child. I love new adventures, experiencing new cultures, and connecting with anyone and everyone. At the age of 10, my parents moved us to Spain to learn a new language and culture. It was difficult at first to leave behind everything and everyone I knew for a place I knew nothing of and no one. But this experience had a profound impact on me. I learned how to be adaptable, resilient, and how to persevere when times got tough. I made lifelong friends, became fluent in Spanish, and caught the travel bug. Living in Spain ignited my passion for exploring diverse cultures, learning in an immersed setting, and building meaningful relationships everywhere I go. My time and experiences with people from diverse backgrounds and educational levels have honed my ability to communicate effectively in all forms. I am an exceptional listener and love to engage attentively and empathetically with others to fully understand their perspectives and needs.My love for people and curiosity for why we think, feel, and act the way we do led me to study neuroscience in my undergrad. Upon graduating, again, my love for people led me to pursue a career in healthcare. After a couple of years of dabbling in reproductive health, mental health, and oncology, I have decided to leave the clinical side of healthcare and pursue a job where I can problem solve, learn, educate, and grow professionally.
