ABOUT PILAR L.
I am a seasoned communications specialist working for the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund\'s (UNJSPF) Office of Investment Management. Before stepping into my current role, I served as a Communications Officer (Senior Product Manager) at the UN Development Coordination Office (DCO). There, I led the design, development and rollout of a multisite that powers 132 UN country team websites across the globe. In this position, I bridged technology and communications, ensuring that UN country teams had a robust digital presence to amplify their work. This is the first time in the history of the UN that websites are hosted in a single platform meeting all accessibility, multilingualism and cybersecurity standards.Prior to joining DCO, I worked as a Communications Lead and Designer at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), the UN’s leading training arm. Earlier in my career, I oversaw UNICEF Innovation’s social media presence (20••••16) and grew their follower base by more than 200%. Beyond my communications career, I am a practicing visual artist. My studio practice spans printmaking and painting. My work has been exhibited in solo shows at The Well (Scandinavia House) and ContinuEd Project Space (School of Visual Arts). Group exhibitions include:* Long Transmission, Neptune in June, Port Chester, NY* Contemporary Print - Traditional to Digital. The Factory, Long Island City, NY* SVACE Summer Showcase, School of Visual Arts (New York, NY)* Myths and Legends of the World at Miami International Fine Arts (Miami, FL)* Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition (Brooklyn, NY)* Atlantic Gallery (New York, NY)* The Hewitt Gallery of Art (New York, NY)I’m a grant recipient of the New Work Queens Arts Fund (2025, NYFA) and have participated in residencies at Vermont Studio Center, Directangle Press, and Zea Mays Printmaking.
