ABOUT MARIA MAPEKI

Maria is an ambitious young woman with a deepening passion for the financial and economic world. Believing that there is no economy without public and private infrastructures, it is the sector in which she aims to evolve. She actively documents her journey across social platforms, sharing insights, lessons, and reflections that demonstrate her curiosity and drive.Over the past two years, she has worked primarily as a self-employed individual while taking on voluntary and leadership roles that shaped her understanding of professional environments and personal strengths.Maria gained significant experience through her participation in a presidential election of the student union of her campus, where she advanced to the second round. This opportunity strengthened her strategic thinking, resilience, communication skills, and ability to operate under pressure, qualities she continues to apply in her academic and leadership roles.She currently serves as both a Student Representative and a Student Executive, positions that require strong communication, problem-solving, negotiation, and teamwork. In these roles, she advocates for her peers, contributes to decision-making, and collaborates with staff and student bodies to improve the college experience. She highly respected by both staff and students.Maria is completing A Levels in Business Studies, Economics, and Psychology at Capital City College. This combination sharpens her analytical thinking, economic reasoning, and understanding of human behaviour, all essential foundations for her future in finance, economics, and policymaking.Her past experiences, including nannying and volunteering, developed her empathy, organisation, adaptability, and responsibility. She now aims to merge her leadership abilities, analytical skills, and interest in economic policy to create meaningful, data-driven impact.
