ABOUT MARIA M.

Growing up, Maria was often asked: where are you from? Though on her mom’s side she was of Italian and Irish descent, her father’s Peruvian roots shone brightly through. Every time she was asked that question, her response was direct:\"I\'m American\" And her story shows what that truly means.Maria was raised in a tight-knit community where faith and family meant everything. Maria’s Irish grandmother often said, “When you educate a woman, you educate a family”. So, when Maria became pregnant at 18, she chose life for her son, took 1 week off of from class, and then returned to earn her degree.Though she worked during the day at an Allentown law firm, at night she drove 162 miles roundtrip from Allentown to Harrisburg to attend law school at night. Coming home close to midnight, then studying into the early morning was her routine until she graduated law school.All to build upon what previous generations made for her.Today, as an attorney, civic leader, and former little league, basketball, and youth soccer coach, Maria knows that her story was only possible because of the freedom and opportunity that are uniquely part of being American. That is why Maria is running for congress—to defend the American dream and fight the radical Biden-Harris agenda that looks at people as a victim to be managed by big government, rather than promoting the benefits of freedom, hard work, and perseverance.As a single mom, achieving her own American dream for herself and her son took sacrifice, but always made time to give back to the community that gave her so much.She understands through first-hand experience that today too many families are living paycheck to paycheck, and it’s never been more expensive to raise and feed a family.She knows that too many politicians are prioritizing self-interest and the interest of crony corporations over those of hardworking families. She sees that crime is rising and drugs are flowing through our open borders and it must stop. Maria knows where she\'s from and what it means to be from here. And why it matters that we change who represents the Lehigh Valley, Carbon, and Monroe Counties in Congress.
