Atuo como Presidente da Brazilian Student Association na University of North Florida, uma organização estudantil voltada para apoiar e conectar estudantes brasileiros no campus. Nossa missão é promover a cultura brasileira, fortalecer o senso de comunidade e incentivar o desenvolvimento de liderança entre estudantes internacionais.Como Presidente, lidero e coordeno o board executivo, definindo a direção estratégica da organização e garantindo o alinhamento entre as equipes. Sou responsável pelo planejamento organizacional, pela gestão do orçamento e pelos pedidos de financiamento junto ao Student Government, além de representar a comunidade estudantil brasileira em espaços institucionais. Também supervisiono a organização de eventos culturais e profissionais, apoio o desenvolvimento de lideranças internas e trabalho para assegurar o crescimento, a sustentabilidade e o impacto positivo da BRASA no campus.

ABOUT MARIA LUIZA CABRAL
I’m an international student majoring in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Leadership at the University of North Florida. I was born and raised in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. I’m passionate about sustainability, innovation, and building a better world.My interest in engineering began early, not in a classroom, but working alongside my father in residential solar energy, lighting, and automation projects. That hands-on experience taught me more than technical skills. It showed me that engineering is not just about numbers, but about solving problems that impact people’s lives. This experience sparked my interest in exploring energy systems and their role in sustainable development.In 2022, I received the AFS STEM PROGRAM ACADEMY scholarship, fully funded by BP and AFS Intercultural Programs, to visit the United States for the first time. That opportunity was a turning point. It connected me with a global community of changemakers and deepened my interest in the intersection between clean energy, technology, and social impact. Today, I am focused on learning everything I can to contribute meaningfully to that space, whether in solar, wind, or hybrid systems.I am currently pursuing my electrical engineering degree in the United States, after being awarded the LAC Scholarship, which made this dream possible. Although I’ve only been here for a short time, I have already taken important steps toward building the future I believe in. Together with other Brazilian students, I co-founded a student organization called BRASA at UNF, where I now serve as vice president. Our mission is to celebrate Brazilian culture, foster community, and inspire more students to pursue international opportunities and leadership.I am always looking for ways to grow, both personally and professionally, and I am committed to developing the knowledge and experience I need for future work in the field of renewable energy.
