About Maria G. Jimenez
I started to establish my life in the U.S in 2016. Before moving to the U.S I was born in Venezuela where I lived in the same house and town my whole life. My home was my little fort from the messy world around those tall walls. Leaving everything was overwhelming; however, after a few challenging months, my professors and advisors saw my determination. They provided connections around the university that helped me find my path.I was determined to become a resource for others in my international community. Therefore, in my first two years at the community college I attended, I changed my work and class schedule around student life meetings and events. When I transferred to Queens University of Charlotte I looked for organizations that aligned with my values. I found a non-profit organization named Digital Charlotte located on campus.
