María Eugenia practices bilingually in Spanish and English and has intermediate knowledge of Italian.Her professional experience in arbitration covers proceedings before the principal international fora and arbitral institutions, including the ICC, CAM Santiago, UNCITRAL, CIADI and the PCA.Before joining Baker Botts in 2020, María Eugenia worked for several years as state counsel at the National Administration of Power Plants and Electrical Transmissions of the State (UTE) in Uruguay, where she led the legal section of the wind projects team and served as counsel in the contentious matters department, representing UTE in multiple litigation matters, including before the Supreme Court of Justice and the Contentious-Administrative Tribunal.She also worked as a legal assistant for an energy company in the London office, pursued an internship in the International Arbitration Group at a Magic Circle (UK) law-firm, and has served as a professor of Procedural Law at the Universidad de la República, Faculty of Law, in Uruguay, and has written multiple articles on international arbitration, procedural law, and energy law.
