ABOUT MARIA EMILIA GANDARELA LAMAS
Maria Emilia is currently a student at the University of Virginia majoring in Economics and Foreign Affairs. Throughout her time at UVA, she has devoted time to teaching middle schoolers essential skills for public speaking and debating, volunteering at the UVA hospital, and raising funds for St Jude\'s Children\'s Hospital and various NGOs in Latin America, and informing her peers about political and policy developments through her publications on Seriatim Journal of American Politics. She also helped direct UVA\'s first ever ESG Seminar in partnership with the McIntire School of Commerce. Beyond college, Maria Emilia has devoted her time interning for start ups in Mexico, Spain, and the US, where she has gained significant skills in understanding the steps and barriers that growing companies face, both as a whole and in individual departments. She hopes to work in helping start ups and small companies grow and succeed through innovation, AI-leveraged technologies, and team building strategies to maximize productivity and impact.
