ABOUT MARIA ECKSTEIN
I am a fourth-year Biomedical Engineering student at Georgia Institute of Technology, pursuing a Health and Medical Sciences minor and a Leadership certificate. I am projected to graduate in December 2025. I am passionate about leveraging biomedical research, medical device development, and injury rehabilitation to drive innovation in healthcare. I am skilled in iterative designing and prototyping, test method development, and hands-on experimentation in biomedical research. Throughout my college career, I have been involved in opportunities to diversify my experiences and pursue my interests. For the past two years, I have been working with the Georgia Tech Football Team as a Sports Medicine intern. I am involved in the injury rehabilitation process with student-athletes. This experience has introduced me to the practical application of medical devices as therapeutic modalities and common mechanisms of injury. I am a Teaching Assistant in the Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering. I advise student teams on the medical device design process. Covering user requirements, regulatory documentation, low to high fidelity prototyping, and Verification and Validation plans. These experiences have allowed me to develop communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
