The YWCA works where they\'re needed most to create real change every day through services to women and girls and advocacy efforts aimed at eliminating disparities for women and girls marginalized communities. Every day, the YWCA works diligently to create stable homes, promote economic advancement, improve health, end violence against women and increase racial equality and social justice for all people.With a team of over 300 committed professionals and hundreds of community volunteers throughout King and Snohomish Counties, the YWCA provides their programs in 19 locations. The YWCA Seattle King Snohomish is the second largest local affiliate in the United States and the eighth largest nonprofit in the State of Washington according to the Puget Sound Business Journal. Maria Chavez Wilcox is the first Latina and multi-lingual CEO of the organization in the Pacific Northwest.

MARIA CHAVEZ WILCOX has a 30-year progressive track record of executive leadership and fundraising success as a social service executive, child abuse advocate, United Way president, community leader and honoree, and successful fundraiser. Her life-long dedication to the nonprofit sector has resulted in raising more than $300 million for social and health service programs. In September 2010, The Chronicle of Philanthropy featured Maria Chavez Wilcox for “beating the odds” in United Way 2010 performance with a 44% increase in one year as compared to other communities. A native of Peru, Maria speaks three languages, and has forged successful local and regional efforts aimed at advancing women and vulnerable children; and has developed innovative methods to encourage and involve women and girls in philanthropy.
