About Margret Hjalmarson
Currently, I am a Program Director in the Division of Research on Learning in Formal and Informal Settings within the Directorate for STEM Education. Recently, I served as Director of the PhD in Education program in the College of Education and Human Development at George Mason University. I was also a Professor of Mathematics Education Leadership. My research interests include engineering education (with a focus on faculty teaching development) and mathematics education (focusing on the learning of mathematics specialists and blended learning). I have worked on multiple National Science Foundation funded projects since 2004 related to electrical engineering education, mathematics curriculum, and design-based research.Areas of expertise and interest-STEM education particularly math and engineering-Higher Education-Teacher Education -Teacher Leadership Development-Interactive Teaching-Education Research-Grant writing and development-Synchronous online learning
