About Margot Kleinman

Margot Kleinman is an architect, educator, and researcher based in New York City. She believes in using her training to improve the built environment by engaging with and listening to the people who use and are impacted by the spaces she designs. Similarly, Margot prioritizes mentoring and teaching the next generation of designers. Her professional experience spans a wide range of project scales and design phases, including planning, transportation, education, and mixed-use projects.In 2024, Margot founded Vagus Workshop, an architecture and design practice focusing on student, community, and civic spaces through research informed co-design and centering the lived experiences of young people. A natural collaborator, she loves to work with others and values the exchange of ideas. She is committed to understanding the human experience and how people interact with the world around them. Margot is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Pratt Institute, and has previously taught at New York City College of Technology, the City College of New York and Parsons New School of Design. Passionate about being in school and education, enjoys creating, exploring, learning, and sharing knowledge with her students, colleagues, and clients.Margot’s research focuses on the student experience and sense of belonging and engagement in school spaces, as well as public toilet access and design. Focusing in New York City, her research informs her teaching and practice.
