ABOUT MARGOT SCHONHOLTZ

As a trusted advisor to global financial institutions, funds and asset managers, I bring to bear my business, financial and legal expertise to prevent and resolve complex and contentious situations my clients face with respect to financial accommodations and investments they have made around the globe. Through my in-depth understanding of my clients’ U.S. and international operations and goals, I proactively identify business and legal risks, propose innovative and strategic solutions, and build consensus among stakeholders with diverse interests to overcome obstacles and achieve common goals. In most of these transactions, I create and manage cross-functional teams of professionals who are responsible for implementing the applicable strategy. I am regularly recognized as a leader in my field, someone who understands business objectives and industry nuances and “can right the ship” in complex multi-million/billion dollar deals. With my extensive knowledge of the financial services, structured products, derivatives, merchant energy, real estate, telecommunications, online marketing, media, retail, manufacturing, mining and hospitality industries, I have developed industry specific solutions to identify and manage business and legal risks. Currently, I serve as co-chair of Linklaters\' US Finance practice. I formulate and implement leadership and business development skills training programs for newly minted attorneys to experienced partners. I also teach teenagers in New York City public schools and low-income communities the fundamentals of personal finance to provide them with tools and resources to achieve their goals and make informed financial decisions.
