About Margarise Correa
A builder.I have built teams and projects from scratch and, most recently, I’ve been building the unique BayBrazil network.I founded BayBrazil in 2010 to serve as a source of information and assist tech business communities in Silicon Valley & Brazil to get to know one another. To accomplish it, I have been creating a series of programs to encourage dialogue and interaction among tech players in these two regions.I work with startups, large corporations, government agencies to connect people, businesses, ideas. Through dozens of events in the San Francisco Bay Area we\'ve been promoting in-depth understanding of the Brazilian-American innovation ecosystem. Our signature event is the annual conference Brazil in the 21st Century, launched at Stanford University in 2012. It brings together entrepreneurs, investors, scholars to discuss innovation, technology, and Brazil’s role in the global economy. Today it\'s the largest Brazil-tech related event abroad, attracting over 300 people every year. In 2020, the online edition was attended Live by 7,500+ people.In 2017 I was honored to be named a “Woman of Influence” by the Silicon Valley Business Journal, an award program that recognizes businesswomen and leaders who are a force in the region. In 2018, I was honored to receive an award by the Embassy of Brazil in the U.S. in recognition of my “contribution in connecting the Brazilian science, technology, and innovation community of Silicon Valley & Brazil”.These modest accomplishments are only possible because of the amazing support I’ve had from BayBrazil partners, members, teammates, advisory board. There have been many challenges in the journey of building our organization. Their commitment and support inspire me to move forward with greater resolve each day. I hold a B.A. in Journalism, from Universidade Estadual de Londrina. Before moving to the Bay Area I worked seven years as a news reporter, editor and anchor at Brazilian network broadcasts TV Globo, TV Cultura and TV Bandeirantes.
