ABOUT MARGARET PEGGY HERLITZKA
Since joining La Crosse’s largest law firm 28 years ago, Margaret “Peggy” Herlitzka has worked extensively in the areas of Family and Personal Injury law. As a partner at Hale Skemp, Herlitzka has litigated hundreds of complicated issues involving complex family law matters, including custody, placement, child support, spousal support, and property division issues. In addition to her private practice, Herlitzka serves by judicial appointment as an Assistant Family Court Commissioner for La Crosse County and a Supplemental Court Commissioner for Judge Elliott Levine. Herlitzka has practiced in the Coulee Region since her graduation from Marquette Law School in 1989. Since beginning her practice in the La Crosse area, Herlitzka has also helped injured persons recover the damages due to them for their pain and suffering, medical costs, lost income and other compensation for which they are entitled.As of 2017, Herlitzka has been named ten times as a Super Lawyer by Milwaukee Magazine, has been selected by her peers for inclusion in the last six editions of The Best Lawyers in America, and has twice been named as Lawyer of the Year for her work in family law. Herlitzka has also been recognized by the YWCA of the Coulee Region as an \"Outstanding Woman\" in the Business/Professional category. She has also received the highest ranking possible through peer and judicial reviews through Martindale Hubbell. Herlitzka was chosen to receive the State of Wisconsin\'s Business and Professional Women\'s \"Woman of Inspiration\" award at its state convention and most recently, was honored with the title of “Mrs. Oktoberfest 2015” for her community contributions and professional accomplishments.
