ABOUT MARGARET GUNAWAN
Bringing almost 20 years of deep experience across investment management and investment funds work, both in legal and compliance and as a seasoned people manager, I am currently General Counsel for BlackRock\'s Canada and Latin America regions, leading a team of talented individuals providing day-to-day support on a wide variety of legal and regulatory issues and strategic projects. I was formerly the Chief Compliance Officer for BlackRock Canada for almost 15 years. Working in a matrix organization within a global firm, I am comfortable addressing regional needs in the context of our global business, building collaborative, trusting relationships and finding scalable solutions. I also work closely with industry associations and regulators on regulatory development and advocacy issues for the investment management industry, including as a frequent speaker at events, writing submissions on regulatory initiatives and participating in meetings with regulators and government officials to discuss market trends and the impact of proposed regulatory changes on investors. I am also a board member of several non-profit organizations.
