ABOUT MARDI WITZEL
Mardi Witzel is the Chief Executive Officer of PolyML, an advanced AI and machine learning company. A technology and governance leader with over two decades of experience in strategic planning, payments and communications, Mardi has held multiple leadership roles spanning both operations and oversight at NCR, NuEnergy.ai and KidAbility Foundation. She is a seasoned Board Director with 20 years’ experience in not-for-profit board governance, stakeholder engagement and risk management. Mardi\'s current focus is at the frontiers of governance including artificial intelligence, data, ESG and sustainability. BOARD LEADERSHIP Mardi serves on the board of PolyML, an early-stage AI-technology company and is serving a second term as a Public Representative on the Chartered Professional Accountants Ontario Council where she is a member of the Risk Committee. Mardi is the former Chair of KidsAbility Foundation Board and a past Board Member of Kidsability Centre for Child Development, also having served as Chair of the Muskoka Watershed Advisory Group, providing advice and recommendations to the Ontario Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks regarding the Muskoka Watershed. Mardi has served on Finance & Audit, Investment, Risk, Governance and Nominating (Chair) committees, drawing on her public, corporate and academic experience for board and committee work. AI TECHNOLOGY & AI GOVERNANCE IMPACT Mardi is considered an expert in AI Governance, having published numerous op-eds and policy papers. She has spoken on AI Governance for Vector Institute, CPA Ontario and CPA Canada and serves as a member of the Digital Governance Council\'s AI Ethics Advisory Panel. EXECUTIVE CAREER Mardi spent her early career with NCR Corporation\'s Payment Systems Division, leading a team of marketing and product management professionals in a worldwide payments processing practice. She considers herself a lifelong learner, having completed three years of a PhD in Management as an adult student at the Wilfrid Laurier University School of Business where she also lectured on business strategy and strategic planning.
